Wednesday & Thursday, June 27 & 28 WONDERFUL WEEKDAYS - Bring your family, neighbors and house guests to enjoy the fun while learning all kinds of fascinating things:

11:00AM Guided tours by naturalist Granny Sam Gahagan who shares her amazing knowledge of local plants and folk remedies, $10 per person.

1:00PM & 3:00PM Storyteller and historian Bill Carson hosts storytelling hayrides, $5 per person.

1:00PM - 2:00PM Judy Carson and Kit Trubey lead The Orchard Monarch Butterfly Preservation Project. Guests are invited to help find eggs, watch the butterfly growth cycle, gather food for the larvae, and release the adult butterflies. Free for persons on the naturalist walk, $3 for others.

1:45PM - 3:15PM Orchard musicians sit with guests on the main floor and pick and sing informally without microphones. Free to the public. Wednesday Musicians: Bob Lominac & Tom Sparks - country Thursday Musician: Herb Green and Herman Coffey - bluegrass

Friday, June 29 6:00PM - 10:00PM Orchard Annual Benefit Auction at Pinebridge Center. Beasties, Baskets, Blossoms & Beyond will feature fabulous art objects and other delightful offerings from fine folks in the community. Auctioneer is David Little, music by Austin Ramsey. Saturday, June 30 11:30AM - 3:30PM Judy Conrad, local butterfly photographer, will display her beautiful collection of photos, including monarchs, swallowtails and luna moths and will sell cards featuring these amazingly creatures.

12:30PM - 1:30PM The Burleson Sisters appeared in the 50's on the original Carolina Barn Dance. Their exciting presentation is the epitome of stirring family close harmony. These ladies will win your heart.

2:00PM - 4:30PM Avery County's Doug Gragg hosts his first full-length show at The Orchard. Doug is a versatile performer with a large repertoire of favorite country songs and is accomplished on both the piano and guitar.

Sunday, July 1 1:15PM - 3:30PM Lloyd Bailey, historian, author and editor of the six volumes of "Toe River Valley Heritage - North Carolina," will introduce his latest volume, sharing stories and his perspective on the past and present of Toe River counties. Bailey, retired Duke professor, was born in Yancey County, and continues an endless quest to document this history.

12:30PM - 1:30PM Debby Young & Friends offer mountain melodies.

2:00PM - 4:30PM Herb Green and Herman Coffey are authentic old-time bluegrass, combining Ralph Stanley-like vocals and fine mandolin pickin'.

Wednesday, July 4 11:00AM - 5:00PM The Annual July 4th Covered Dish Dinner Picnic. Entry fee: a dish to share or a $10 charge per plate. Enjoy continuous live music, hayrides, dancing. Bring the whole family!
